ABOUT

We offer different classes throughout the year.  Contact us for our most current class or to set up a private one time class or weekly private class:

1. Animal care class-ages 5 thru 10 years old

Geared for the younger students ages 5-10 years, children under 5 are welcome to accompany their older siblings but may not be able to participate in some activities.  Parents will help their children, under the teacher’s instruction, on how to interact with real live animals, big and small.  Students will learn about what kind of foods different animals eat and the responsibility it takes to care for an animal.  There will be short homework assignments to remind the kids what they have learned.  Fun farm games will be played, and simple anatomy lessons given. This is a hands on experiences that is educational with a whole LOT of FUN!  Sometimes we even take animal related field trips off site!

2. Animal care class-ages 10 thru adult

This is a class the whole family will enjoy but is geared for adults and children 10 years and older, younger children are welcome to accompany their older siblings.  In this class you will learn how to take better care of your pet including diet, training and grooming.  Also, you and your family will get to feed and care for real live animals on the farm!  There will be arts and crafts, homework assignments, games, hands on experiences, and LOTS of FUN!  Older children and adults will be given quizzes and assignments.  Adults will enjoy valuable information on how to keep the family pet healthy and tips on how to save money on its care.  Children will also learn the responsibility of caring for an animal.   Come and learn about all the different creatures God has created and find out what makes them unique and special from one another.  In this class you may learn about dogs, cats, chickens, fish, goats, horses, rodents, reptiles, and more!  Each semester is custom made to what the families have an interest in learning.  Our semesters are never the same and new classes are taught each semester, also some classes from past semesters may be repeated.  If you’ve taken our class in the past there will be new things to learn and enjoy in each new semester.  Parents must stay with participants (this is a family class and parents will learn alongside their children).

Possible classes that may be taught: baby chicken development, anatomy of an egg,  the proper way to greet a dog, dangerous ingredients in your dog’s food, nail trimming for dogs, goat hoof trimming, cat’s don’t groom themselves, dog show competitions and how to handle a dog, how a dog show works, a field trip to an American Kennel Club (AKC) conformation dog show, field trip to an animal shelter, training goats to do agility, training your dog tricks and commands, evaluating your dog to become a canine good citizen title holder with the AKC (mix breeds welcome), a horse’s diet, how chickens develop, grooming your dog, and MORE!  Families are also given the opportunity to share and teach the public what they have learned in class during our performance at the end of the semester.

3. Ranch Hands-ages 11 thru adult

This is a hands on working class!  Learn how to handle large animals, and how to catch a chicken.  Ranch hands will learn about diet and feeding of livestock along with other animals.  Hands on experience with how to do vaccinations, de-worming animals, and the hard work it takes to keep a ranch clean.  Students will learn how to clean pens and the animals will need grooming.  Their is no comparison with training on the job!  Contests will be set up to test your new skills and the knowledge you learn on the ranch.  Maybe you are coming to the ranch as a rookie but you will leave with the confidence that you know more than any city slicker!  Perhaps you know a few things already and just want to have some fun working with the animals.  Everyone will learn things and become a teacher to the younger children in the 2nd portion of our class.  During this 2nd portion of our class you will reaffirm what you have learned by showing you can teach a portion of your knowledge to children ages 4-10 years old .  You don’t truly know anything until you can teach it to another person!  Sometimes we even take animal related field trips off site!
